The tennis and pickleball complex at Dunkirk District Park contains eight outdoor pickleball courts, including four dedicated courts and four multiuse courts. The courts are free when used on a first come basis and can also be reserved. County programs take priority, followed by paid reservations, then open public use. That order matters because an empty looking court may still be assigned to a lesson, league, or private group.

Dunkirk District Park is at 10750 Southern Maryland Boulevard. The pickleball complex opened in late 2024 with four dedicated courts and four multiuse courts. The dedicated courts provide the cleanest pickleball experience, while the multiuse area expands capacity when demand is high or a larger group needs several courts.

The complex is lighted and has restrooms, water, and parking. Mid March through mid November, the park operates from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Off season hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sports lighting shuts off ten minutes before closing. These hours make evening play realistic through much of the year.

Open courts are first come, first served when they are not assigned to a county program or paid reservation. Court reservations are available for a nominal fee. Daily public access does not mean organized open play, so players who need guaranteed partners should use a county lesson, league, or scheduled group.

Other Calvert County options

Calvert County's pickleball network also includes outdoor courts at Mt. Hope Community Center, Hallowing Point Park, Harriet E. Brown Community Center, Cove Point Park, and Solomons Town Center. These sites are farther from Dunkirk but useful for leagues, county events, or meeting players from central and southern Calvert County.

The county supplies movable nets at its outdoor pickleball locations. Players bring paddles and balls, move a net into position where needed, and return it to the side afterward. The dedicated Dunkirk courts may require less setup than the multiuse areas.
